About Our Founder
My name is Camille "Cami" Lee
Cami built Backfield Media to bring intentional, athlete‑first coverage to college sports—with space for standout JUCO and high school programs shaping the next generation of talent.
Her work focuses on clear storytelling, community‑rooted reporting, and coverage that respects the athletes, families, and programs involved. With a background in video journalism, editorial standards, and sports operations, Cami leads Backfield with a commitment to accuracy, development, and professionalism.
Backfield Media exists to document the work, the growth, and the moments that matter.

Coach Education & Standards
Our founder is engaged in NFHS National Coach Certification coursework toward the Accredited Interscholastic Coach (AIC) and Certified Interscholastic Coach (CIC) levels, and is interested in coaching women’s basketball and women’s flag football for youth and younger athletes, helping them grow, access resources, and give back to their communities.

This coaching education informs how Backfield Media covers and supports interscholastic athletics, coaching standards, and athlete development.
Editorial Standards & Integrity

Our Commitment to Integrity
Backfield Media delivers sports coverage that emphasizes clarity, purpose, and community engagement. To maintain the trustworthiness, objectivity, and professionalism of our storytelling, our newsroom adheres to a cohesive ethical framework. We diligently align our daily reporting and press activities with the professional standards established by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) and the National Sports Media Association (NSMA) while covering high school, JUCO, collegiate, and professional athletes.

Fact Verification & Accuracy
-
Primary Sourcing: We prioritize first-hand, primary-source reporting. Breaking news, transfer portal updates, and roster movements are verified through athletic departments, official school communications, or direct interviews before publication.
-
Rumors and Speculation: Backfield Media does not publish unverified social media rumors or uncorroborated gossip.
-
Proper Attribution: If another media outlet or reporter breaks a story first, we always provide clear, prominent credit and links to their original work.

NIL & Compliance Statement
Backfield Media operates in complete compliance with all NCAA, high school athletic association, and state Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) regulations. Our collaborative player profiles and spotlights are structured ethically to protect the eligibility and amateur status of every athlete we cover.

Independence and Financial Firewall
To preserve the trust of our audience, Backfield Media maintains a strict separation between our business operations and our editorial coverage.

-
Sponsorships and Partnerships: We work with community partners and corporate sponsors to fund our operations, travel, and content creation. However, sponsors have absolutely zero influence, input, or veto power over our reporting, game breakdowns, or commentary.
-
Clear Labeling: Any written feature, video segment, or podcast episode that is financially supported by an outside entity will be prominently labeled as "Sponsored Content" or "Presented by [Partner Name]."
-
Gifts and Access: Our staff may accept standard press row hospitality, stat sheets, and working media meals provided by hosting venues. We do not accept expensive gifts, paid travel from teams we cover, or personal favors that could compromise our editorial objectivity.
-
Merchandise & Apparel: Revenue generated through the Backfield Media Shop or digital memberships via platforms like Patreon carries no editorial strings attached and serves solely to fund our independent storytelling.
